They have a rubber seal that is supposed to keep all the moisture in. I still find it dries out or goes yellow after a while though.

- odomojuli 6y agoYeah I've used cheaper rice cookers and the main complaint is they don't insulate or seal properly. Mine was like $50 and made okay rice but it dries out almost immediately.
