I had a similar feeling with HTTPS [0] in suggesting a transition to making encrypted connections the norm on websites so that networks can't sniff activity. The point was lost on most posters who want absolute security for every website that uses HTTPS despite the unfriendly UI warnings for even a 5 minute expiry despite being valid [1]. Not just banks, but websites like Wikipedia too.
