I’m not generally a fan of of taxpayer funding for the private sector. This includes most startups. Generally I think these deals are usually really bad for taxpayers. Kodak is losing money, to the tune of $60M so it’s unclear what their long-term viability is as a company. The only argument for a startup here is to jettison the structure of a failing company. Again, I think you are overestimating the number of engineers needed to produce some of the things you’re talking about. My assertion is that if Kodak was really strong here and had a good business case, they would not need taxpayer funded investment.
