What systems don't come with nano these days?
- easton 6y agoCentOS/RHEL didn’t ship with it forever (at least to 7), I don’t know if that changed with 8 but it was one of the reasons I learned enough vi to be dangerous, as I had to debug a bunch of weird networking stuff on VM guests that were CentOS 5.5.
- HeckFeck 6y agoIt's not included with a default Void installation, either. It must be a charitable move to encourage greater use of Vim ;)
- Havoc 6y agoSome of the lighter distros designed for SBCs for example. Don't recall the exact one where I ran into this issue...openwrt I think Not a disaster, but I don't personally have those arcane vi keyboard shortcuts memorized so even a small tweak to the config is unnecessarily painful
- EE84M3i 6y agoYeah, openwrt doesn't have it, it only has busybox vi built in. Docker containers also often don't. But for most normal distributions it seems to be included these days.
- Havoc 6y ago>Docker containers also often don't ah yes. That explains why my mind was so fuzzy & I couldn't place what specific distro I encountered this on.
