To me, a carbon tax sounds like it’s ok to piss into the pool as long as you pay for it. Nobody’s using the money to clean the pool, though.
Sure, some will try to piss less, but I doubt you’d like to swim in it.
For me, that’s the rational excuse to not rely on carbon tax. Instead, make everybody use the toilet.
- _vertigo 6y agoMaybe if you explained your metaphor a bit more it would make sense to me - as it stands I'm not really sure what you're trying to say.
- lysium 6y agoI think we should /not/ emit CO2, instead of (just) taxing it, just as I think you'd prefer a clean pool over a dirty pool plus some money. Yes, taxed CO2 will make things better, but I don't think it will make things good enough, as the CO2 stays in the atmosphere.
- jaakl 6y agoWe dont have toilets. So pissing less to the pool is basically best we can do.
- danw1979 6y agoIgnoring the other flaws in the piss/CO2 analogy for a second: I think “using the toilet” here is supposed to mean switching to EVs, renewables, etc.
