I went to a talk by Joshua Schachter not that long after del.icio.us started gaining traction. It was a most fantastic time for the web, the possibilities seemed endless. I happen to think if it hadn't been bought by Yahoo! who seemed to have no vision for it then it would still be a tool I relied on.
- julienchastang 6y agoI am surprised to see Joshua Schachter only mentioned once throughout this entire thread. I loved the story of how he started Del.icio.us from essentially nothing. He was one of my heroes at the time.

- julienchastang 6y agoJosh, what are you up to these days? The wikipedia page dedicated to you is out-of-date.
- joshu 6y agoI'm raising a venture fund and working on some new projects in the meantime. I also do a bunch of plotter art stuff at http://instagram.com/jodhus http://instagram.com/jodhus
- julienchastang 6y agoThat's cool. We had a plotter (HP, I believe) in the early 80s. In some ways, nothing compares to old-style plotters.
- joshu 6y agoYep. I use a CNC router converted to hold a paintbrush/pen/whatever, but also an HP 7575a, which is glorious.
