A good friend of mine had this bullshit done to him growing up, and can't spell for shit (which he had no trouble venting about through college) exactly because of the method in this article. His elementary school teachers literally told him to "think about how he would spell it" and then, and this is the mind-blowing part, were toooootally okay with whatever the fuck his child mind came up with. "Oh you spelled 'tree' just like the (literal) number: 100,000, that's great!!" I'm just shocked this shit is still going on or that like anyone even thinks that could possibly fucking work. We don't have apriori knowledge to somehow write and read glphys, representing fucking sounds, which are time and location dependent... so how or why would this approach possibly work? </rambling>
