Ok, well in the UK the average is 59 minutes. Being an average it means many people are having longer commutes than that. I'd like to see the mean number. http

  It’s comparable, US number is one way. With one hour commute per work day it’s a little over 1/5 then. With four hour daily commute you are over 1/4 but not close to 1/3 of your time.

    As I said, there are around 112 waking hours in a week, spending 37.5 of them working is not 1/5th of your week, it's close to 1/3.

  They don't link to the study but they say 221 hours per year and since there is about 220 working days per year, I think the 59 minutes figure is per day, not for each way to/from work. So about 30 minutes one-way. The US study saying 26.6 minutes is also one-way. So basically they are fairly similar and reasonable. A 2-hour one-way commute just seems crazy to me, I know it exists but I think it's very extreme.
