- ksec 6y agoThinking of the same thing. Really wonder what sort of politics and power play is happening behind the scene. I thought Jim Keller lost when he was obviously pushing for using TSMC.
- pushkar2911 6y agoThis YT video covers this issue. Lot of politics and power struggles in Intel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nsX9nUFIBc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nsX9nUFIBc
- shaklee3 6y agoTo be fair, Keller never stays anywhere long
- saberience 6y agoTwo years is his shortest tenure, not enough time to make a massive difference to a company as big as Intel.
- yvdriess 6y agoHe carries enough weight in this industry to have no problem changing the orbit of even a company the size of Intel. It depends how hard the managers are going to try and pull it back in the old direction.
- piva00 6y agoBut he's almost never left without making an impact where he worked at, no matter how short of a sting: DEC (21164/21264) -> AMD (K7/K8) -> SiByte/Broadcom -> P.A. Semi (bought by Apple, A4/A5) -> AMD (Ryzen) -> Tesla (not sure about his impact) -> Intel (no visible impact so far). Also, from those only his first stint at AMD can be considered "not staying long", most of the other positions were held for some years.
- yvdriess 6y agoSo far everything points to him really taking time off to take care of family.
