They did not educate themselves via facebook posts nor via youtube videos.
Regardless, are you saying that self-teaching is something only by charlatans? The only difference between being self-taught and being formally educated is that you do not have a mentor and that you do not get a degree at the end. You are going to use the same resources (books, handouts, presentations, etc) to learn stuff from.
