Analysis of speed these days (where a single main memory hit is thousands of superscalar dynamic instructions) is tilted differently than it was in 1969. Still, even back then Bloom's own original paper had a footnote qualifying his superiority conclusion as dependent upon memory system assumptions. Beats me how this gets lost.
