The mouse is great. Sometimes it's the best way to select text or follow links.
I find it useful to bind some common hotkeys to mouse buttons: I bind right click to switch between normal/insert modes, handy if my hand is already on the mouse. I bind thumb buttons to flip around the buffer list in Emacs. Of course, I have keyboard keys to do these actions as well, but there's some value in replication, given that there are lots of situations that require mouse.
I use a great keyboard with a well-customized layout and keybindings. We should work to bring the mouse into the fold, not excommunicate it.
