I suspect that aeroplanes will look very similarly in 100 years as well. There's such thing as physics that are the main reasons. Don't look at fighter jets, as they are basically jet engines with guns and little control surfaces added. As for airworthiness - there's a good reason for that - these things literally fly over your head.
