Uh, actually, you can't do those commands in the tweet if you own a Xoom, and want the source for it. You can own a device that is running an Linux-based open source OS, but can't get the code that's running on it.
As far as I can tell, most of the delays for Android versions were on the order of a week or two after the SDK was released. That's a pretty acceptable delay because someone needs to go through Google's private branch, do a little cleanup, and commit the files to the public git repository.
This isn't a "slightly longer wait". This is Google not upholding their commitment to the project. I'm actually surprised that the FSF isn't going after them for this, since the Linux core is GPL, and that means that the code needs to be released...
- Pewpewarrows 16y agoIt's a slightly longer wait. Instead of a few weeks it's a few months. Whatever clever rewording you want to do to "spin" it your way, at the end of the day it's just a bit more time to wait for them to open source the code, with good reason. You want the source code to work on for your tablet device? Just ask Google, they said they'll hand it right over. It's just not quite ready for the public to start hacking it on to phones.
