Would love to read any research that backs that number. (I'm not saying you're not right, I just like reading research papers).

- dijit 6y agoThis one says we are only productive about 40%, which is in-line with other stuff I've read: https://www.inc.com/rebecca-hinds/new-research-says-workers-are-wasting-60-percent-of-their-time-heres-what-to-do-about-it.html https://www.inc.com/rebecca-hinds/new-research-says-workers-...
- PragmaticPulp 6y agoThat's not exactly what the study says. The study claimed that people spend a lot of time doing "work about work", dealing with apps, and so on: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20191017005053/en/Asana-Anatomy-Work-Index-Reveals-Employees-Spend https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20191017005053/en/Asa... The time spent on distractions and procrastination was around 1 hour per day: > On average, the research shows that knowledge workers waste one hour and four minutes each day due to distractions and procrastination So to be clear, people were working for more like 80% of their day, but not 100% of that time was considered core work or productive meetings. People don't simply socialize and mess around on the internet for 50% of their work days at most companies. I've been at companies where people get away with that level of messing around, but I wouldn't say it's the norm.
