Before reading this story, I had been expecting that perhaps somebody had complained about article content and that the author had been banned from Medium so I was surprised to discover that this story was about the author being shadow-banned. Shadow-banning is a useful tool for online forums but many moderators would usually considered it to be the last in a series of escalating steps that might be used for particularly troublesome users who ignore moderator warnings. I wouldn't have expected a blogging platform to implement it and certainly not at the whim of an automatic spam filter. Even worse, its algorithm does not seem to take into account past behaviour or a positive reputation of the user before banning them; all articles are hidden due to a false positive in just one of them.
