Is sex a cryptographically secure random number generator?
How many bits of entropy are in my family tree? Which species produces the most entropy in the least amount of time?
- totetsu 6y agoIt's interesting how trying to formulate an answer to a left field question like this helps shine a light on areas where knowledge is lacking on both of those things.
- dyingkneepad 6y agoI think you could rephrase it as "Is reproduction a cryptographically secure RNG?". The stuff I was thinking about before reading the extra text you wrote in addition to the question is not what you were asking for ;)
- throwaway889900 6y agoGuess you can narrow that question down to "Can an infinite DAG be used as a random number generator?" which, I guess kinda trivially is yes? Probably provable practically using something like the Linux git tree using hashes as indicators of what to do.
