>you should read two books. The first is Get Your House Right: Architectural Elements to Use & Avoid
I own and have read a copy, excellent. Note however that it's entirely oriented toward traditional design: Deco, Streamline Moderne, and Mid-Mod are terra incognita. Eichler fans, you have been warned.
- earthscienceman 6y agoDo you have any suggestions for books that do cover these design styles?
- everybodyknows 6y agoFor light reading on 20th century style I like this site: https://retrorenovation.com/2017/06/23/59-midcentury-modern-historic-houses-visit-across-u-s/ https://retrorenovation.com/2017/06/23/59-midcentury-modern-... Only book I've found for Streamline Moderne: https://www.amazon.com/Streamline-Moderne-Style-Primer-Book-ebook/dp/B005Y7QXGY/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=rosalie+stafford&qid=1595304851&sr=8-4 https://www.amazon.com/Streamline-Moderne-Style-Primer-Book-...
- pstuart 6y agoHaving lived in an Eichler house, I don't understand how there can be Eichler fans.
- rusteh1 6y agoCurious about this comment? Why? I've never lived in one, nor even been in one. But they look beautiful. What are the draw backs?
- pstuart 6y agoCheaply made, nothing all that special except floor to ceiling windows.
- codemac 6y agoHaving not lived in an Eichler house, I'm just obsessed with the indoor/outdoor mixed space. Is there a good takedown of eichler architecture anywhere? Just to satisfy my curiosity?
