Are you a tech startup enthusiast? We'd like your help.
We're a small blog run by a few guys who love reading and writing about tech startups. Right now we're focusing on the SoCal tech scene, but we want to expand our reach to other, non-silicon valley, tech scenes. If you live in NYC, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Austin, Boulder or any number of other tech startup communities and are passionate about covering this subject, sign up!
You can do so here: http://thestartupcafe.com/write-for-the-startup-cafe/
Thanks! We can't wait to work with you.
- bmelton 16y agoWould you be at all interested in one-off writing? I'm not looking to advance my writing career, but I am competing in Baltimore's "Startup Weekend" event next week, and I'd love to share my experiences from that, as someone who's never attended anything like it.
- traviso 16y agoThat would be awesome! There's no need to be a regular contributor. I've changed the format of the page, so you can simply submit there and I'll help you get it posted with all of the appropriate credit, links and such. Good luck at the Startup Weekend too!
- bmelton 16y agoWe're kind of abusing the format, in that it's me and two other guys bringing an idea to work on as a ready-made team. We haven't started any work, but we've given it lots of thought. I'm anticipating an article titled somethingn like "How we cheated at StartupWeekend (and still lost)" or something like that.
- traviso 16y agoI'd be interested to find out how many people go to startup weekend with pre-determined teams and use the weekend as a way to jump-start their project.
- bmelton 16y agoFrom the conversations I've had with people in the know, I'm the odd duck. This is what I get for planning the entire Startup Weekend before having any idea of what it's actually supposed to be about.
- haploid 16y agoI wasn't even aware that there was a SoCal tech scene. Must have missed the memo.
- traviso 16y agoThere's definitely a growing community. We're hoping to help build it too. I'm that there are tech communities all over the country. Especially in places I never expected like North Carolina! I'm hoping that The Cafe can be a place where any tech entrepreneur, regardless of experience and location can contribute and learn.
- haploid 16y agoThis is interesting. We're located in OC, and with the exception of the many "startups" being incubated by entertainment giants like Comcast/E!, I'm not aware of any SoCal tech/web startups. I will bookmark this.
- traviso 16y agoMaybe you'd be able to contribute a post sometime? Would you like it if we provided run-downs of local events?
- mindcrime 16y agoI'm that there are tech communities all over the country. Especially in places I never expected like North Carolina! Heh, it amazes me how many people haven't heard about the NC technology community, considering the history of RTP (the largest research park in the US)[1] and "The Triangle"[2] in general. I guess we need to do more to promote the local scene. But FWIW, there's a big list of Triangle area startups here: http://www.downtowndurhamstartups.com/content/startup+directory/8880 http://www.downtowndurhamstartups.com/content/startup+direct... - traviso 16y agoUPDATE: I've changed the submission page so that anybody can submit a post to be featured on The Startup Cafe. I want The Cafe to be a place for all tech entrepreneurs to share their stories, experiences and knowledge with the rest of the community.
- ig1 16y agoYou might want to call it something else to avoid confusion with http://startupcafe.co.uk/ http://startupcafe.co.uk/
- HerraBRE 16y agoAre you at all interested in what's going on outside the U.S. ?
