The funny thing that you can order it from SEA (mostly Thailand) for roughly ~$30 through https://www.dhgate.com/ https://www.dhgate.com/ DHGate is perfect to buy fake jerseys that are pretty much the same with genuine tags. Either stolen from the factory or they work overhours, I don't know. But the quality and the actual product is almost always the same.
- atarian 6y agoThis is also a good way to get in trouble with customs. Source: Have a friend who bought counterfeit items and got held up at customs for it.
- Waterfall 6y agoHow? They get seized at worst, you get a reship. Nobody cares about it as long as you aren't getting 50+ for resale.
- atarian 6y ago>It is illegal to purchase counterfeit goods. Bringing them into the United States may result in civil or criminal penalties. https://www.cbp.gov/FakeGoodsRealDangers https://www.cbp.gov/FakeGoodsRealDangers
- kart23 6y agoTell that to amazon
- Waterfall 6y agoSo you never did anything illegal in your life? Sounds more like you want to scare people from ordering rather than speaking the truth.
- atarian 6y agoI was just pointing out what OP suggested is illegal. Not sure why you need to question my personal choices in life and make up some malicious intent for doing that.
- acid__ 6y agoRealistically though, CBP isn't going to come after you if you're buying a few hundred bucks of apparel for personal use.
- DanBC 6y agoYou can find yourself on a CBP list if you import counterfeit goods. https://www.racked.com/2018/1/8/16849298/amazon-counterfeits-global-entry-customs https://www.racked.com/2018/1/8/16849298/amazon-counterfeits...
- mindslight 6y agoSo the risk is being unable to purchase totalitarian favors? If you're that worried, have the package addressed to a different nym.
- gruez 6y agoFunny how there's a list for natural persons, but not (large) corporations.
- oh_sigh 6y agoThere are well known open air markets in downtown Manhattan where everyone goes for counterfeit goods. If that place stays open, I really doubt getting one jersey with freehongkong written on it is going to set off their alarm bells.
- panny 6y agoThat's a good way to lose your Global Entry membership too. https://www.racked.com/2018/1/8/16849298/amazon-counterfeits-global-entry-customs https://www.racked.com/2018/1/8/16849298/amazon-counterfeits... >past violation of customs laws or regulations on your record may make you ineligible for Trusted Traveler programs
- make3 6y agothis is about the NBA kowtowing to the CCP, no one is surprised you can buy fake shirts somewhere
- realmod 6y agoI can definitely concede that the NBA is acting cowardly, but I feel like the amount of hate/attacks NBA is receiving is disproportionate. Essentially all global businesses appease China to varying degrees and NBA is being singled out because of their outspokenness on US-related issues. And denigrating companies because they did not speak about ALL issues would simply result in them avoiding all contentious issues. Furthermore, a lot of this outrage feels extremely disingenious which I feel like further justify my "distaste". Like I stated in a previous comment - our main focus should be pressuring the government and congress where the real change happen. Especially since China would retaliate against any company talking about their issues. Also, focusing on the gov/congress do not in any way prevent the pressuring of companies to do the right thing.
- DevKoala 6y ago> And denigrating companies because they did not speak about ALL issues would simply result in them avoiding all contentious issues. The NBA has had a voice on the matter, they could have stayed quiet like you mentioned, but they chose to side with cruelty. When their main star, Lebron, publicly called out the critiques on China for their treatment of Hong Kong “misinformed”, it sought to normalize oppression, condoning dictatorship practices and cruelty. The NBA has a powerful speech platform that should be used responsibly.
