The article states quite clearly, multiple times, in multiple different ways that she encouraged and bought into this nonsense. So you have somebody who is told by their doctor they have a 50% chance to live and they, of course, turn to their social support and what does their social support do? They say "you're right, you don't need treatment. Doctors are evil and shouldn't be trusted. The thermal scans show you're healthy." When you have IRL social support for your beliefs, that's not just a bubble, that's a death cult. Do I really need to post all of the many quotes from the article showing they were complicit in all of this?

After he found it, and after she tried to talk him out of it. > They say "you're right, you don't need treatment. You must have read a different article to the one I quoted above then, that clearly states that both his mother and girlfriend tried to talk him out of it, before they all got sucked into the internet misinformation. > Do I really need to post all of the many quotes from the article showing they were complicit in all of this? Go for it, but you're still ignoring the article as written.
- c3534l 6y agoI think you're the one ignoring the article as written, latching onto the initial skepticism she had and ignoring the whole bulk of the rest of the article. Your own quote showed that, that that they were sucked in. It also does not say they tried to talk him out of it. You yourself now admit that their skepticism was only at first, so why are you completely disregarding everything else?
- Nursie 6y agoI'm not, and I'm not the one that has invented quotes from whole cloth to try support his position. Your illustration of what happened when he turned to his support group is precisely the opposite of what we are told happened. Yes, they were sucked in after initially trying to talk him out of it. That neither supports your imaginary quote, nor the idea that they killed him. What it does support is the power and the awfulness of the online alt-med community, which he unfortunately became an active part of. Could they have done more? Probably, and they have to live with that for the rest of their lives. But he wasn't their pawn.
