The big downside with purses is that they require your hands and you can forget them on a train, unlike your pockets. I imagine that’s why in urban areas the small corded Gucci/Louis Vuitton purses have become very popular with men and women alike, as they overcome some of the practical downsides, they’re more like fanny packs in the sense that they leave your hands free and stay close to your body.
