Is there even a measure of greatness that is not anthropocentric?
"Greatness" is a compound measure of impact if solved, intractability of the problem, and average tangibility of problem (how much experience a random cross-section of humans would have with the subject of the problem). Consciousness definitely scores high on all three of the criteria.
