The cultural aspects of Mormonism are muted out of state, but even out-of-state Mormons are inextricably tied to the Utah (University, relatives, friends who moved from or to Utah). I've hit all four quadrants of the Mormon/Non-Mormon, Utahn/Non-Utahn matrix and from my perspective, we still shared much of the Utah culture (though I never would have admitted it at the time) when I grew up in another state.
