Nice. Just discovered that you can open videos from the official YouTube client by using the "Share" menu and selecting NewPipe. It has multiple options, including download/open/open as popup. This make it much more useful for me, I can still have access to my YouTube account but I can open the actual videos in NewPipe and skip ads/have more control of the playback options.
