Aside from this one issue, is switching to 1.1.1.1 a good idea in your guys experience? Right now I just realized I hvae the DNS for my ISP which is probably how they inject bullshit 404 pages full of ads. What is the fastest/best public DNS in your guys experience?
- xur17 6y agoI've been pretty happy with 1.1.1.1 (before now). Might be worth using something like 8.8.8.8 as a backup (Google).
- vulcan01 6y agoYou could also use 9.9.9.9 as your backup, if you're avoiding Google (https://www.quad9.net https://www.quad9.net)
- BenjiWiebe 6y agoFor us, it's cloudflare. Our ISP is connected to KCIX, and cloudflare apparently has 1.1.1.1 servers in Kansas City. No other free DNS provider is as quick, for us. 18ms or so RTT, as opposed to the WISP's internal latency of ~10ms. Central Kansas.
- 77ko 6y agoI've been using https://nextdns.io/ https://nextdns.io/ - works fast and most importantly blocks a bunch of adds (user configurable), so makes browsing on mobile much nicer. Ancedotally the interenet seems faster.
