1) nimbletext. when clients send me excel sheets with tons of data to import i would generate insert statements in the sheets themselves. this is a painful experience. Then i found out about nimbletext. its pure joy to use.
2) jailer. I'm a visual kind of guy. so this makes database analysis very easy.
3) onenote. if only it had Linux app i would use it for personal use.
4) visual studio 2019. customized to the bone to be uber productive
5) Autohotkey. got a ms 4000 ergonomic keyboard and binding all keys a journey in itself
I'll stop right here but i have tons of other tools i really enjoy using.
- BeetleB 6y agoI don't think anyone would call Autohotkey "enterprise".
- jokab 6y agosorry i got carried away
- surge 6y agoP3X OneNote will scratch the Linux OneNote itch, or just run it in a browser tab. Better than nothing.
- jokab 6y agowow ill give it a try. maybe.
- cylentwolf 6y agoWhat kind of customization do you do to VS 2019 to make it more productive?
- tester34 6y agoI'm no the OP, but I suggest to use things like Extensions: Roslynator Codemaid Productivity Power Tools - pack of extensions _________ And maybe disable option: Reopen documents on solution load It's in tools -> options -> projects and solutions -> general
- jokab 6y ago1) changing keybindings to suit my needs. ctrl o, ctrl o to open folder in explorer. ctrl alt t to open terminal, etc 2) snippets designer plugin. enjoy snippet creation 3) macros. crashes most of the time tho. sometimes im too lazy to pop a terminal and type my git alias so here we are. 4) disable some features to increase loading time. (lots of articles around) there are others but these are my top 4
- anjanb 6y agoThese tools are nice. Please share your other tools as well.
- jokab 6y ago1) joplin. a great alternative to onenote.its in markdown and open source! 2) ulauncher (for linux), executor (for windows). oh how i love just typing "az 12345" and it shows my azure devops bug in chrome. 3) obs studio. when i want to force myself to focus i record myself doing the tasks and talking my way through it. give it a try im away from my computer so this is just some of the things i remember

- dublin 6y ago+10 for OneNote, especially if you use a modern pen-enabled computer. This may be the best product Microsoft has - it's without question the only reason I pay for an annual Office license. It's a real shame OneNote doesn't get the quality development attention it deserves anymore (the best version was back around Win 8.1). (How about some killer assisted sketching, or at least open up an API for third-party extensions for things like drawing/sketching? A combo of uMakeand a more advanced version of Catchbook embedded into OneNote is my dream app...)
