- lwhi 16y agoExactly - the premise of the whole article is incorrect.
- amstrad464 16y agoThe conclusion of the article is that by pricing relatively low, Apple makes "the attractive new market for tablets a lot less attractive for companies planning to sell less than 10 million tablets this year." While the claim that the new iPad is cheaper than its predecessor aims to highlight Apple's pricing strategy, it is not a premise. Even if the iPad 2 was more expensive than the original iPad, it could still be cheap in relation to competitive offerings. It could be sold at a price allowing only for small profit margins without economies of scale. His premise is that it is.
- lwhi 16y agoNo. The article states that Apple has priced their tablet $100 cheaper than the first iPad; it surmises due to high competition in the marketplace, Apple have adjusted their pricing structure to gain a competitive advantage. This is a premise and it's also incorrect. The iPad is being sold at the same price as the previous offering. They haven't adjusted their pricing strategy.
- bni 16y agoHere in Sweden, the iPad 2 costs less on introduction than the iPad 1 did. Possibly favourable dollar value with regard to the swedish krona did that.
- arihant 16y agoEven then. I don't see how $499 is $100 lesser than $399. It's wrong information being interpreted wrongly.
- rogerwilco78 16y agoYou are right that there was no price change in the US. However in many international markets there has been a price reduction between the original pricing of the first iPad and the iPad 2. In Australia, the difference is between $50-100 when comparing original iPad launch price and iPad 2 pricing (http://techstyles.com.au/ipad-2-price/ipad/ http://techstyles.com.au/ipad-2-price/ipad/). Funny to see that the case is different from country to country.
