You should do this in general public situations where possible too: Got great service at a restaurant or store? Ask to talk to their manager. When their manager comes over, complement the person who was awesome! My wife does this regularly and it's always amazing to see people's faces drop at the first manager request, then shine when they realize what's going on :)
