This is likely a source of gender disparity in technology. Men tend to be more confident in math and engineering situations, even when they know as much or less than their female peers (the much-reported "gender confidence gap")[1][2][3]. We are disadvantaging equally capable women by using an interview format they are less likely to do well on.
