My mum made that choice of her own free will & to this day often repeats how having 4 kids was the best decision she ever made & if she could go back she would have had even more. My conscience is clear.
Also I don't think I have become a less fun, interesting person since having kids. I may have become wiser (and more tired).
- andreilys 6y agoFree will is an illusion. She had a set of evolutionary drives paired with societal pressures that made the choice inevitable.
- SketchySeaBeast 6y agoSo given that birthrate is falling, society must be changing to prevent evolution drives? If we have no will I wonder what determines society - it can't be evolution, we're acting contrary to our base nature.
- andreilys 6y agoNurture + Nature. You don’t exist as an independent being. You are part of a long line of humans. Lots of studies showing how trauma of our ancestors is encoded in our DNA and carried forward. Social patterns change but the underlying human drives stay constant more or less.
