Fully autonomous driving won't be here for _at least_ half a decade so this judgement makes complete sense. Tesla was engaged in flase advertising.
- vmception 6y agoany idea if these materials were in German or in English?
- Leherenn 6y agoIt was in German. Very few countries run adverts in languages different from the local ones, especially in the big European countries.

- gardaani 6y agoOnly five days ago Elon Musk claimed that "we will have the basic functionality for level five autonomy complete this year." (yeah..!) https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-53349313 https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-53349313
- croes 6y agoDidn't he claim the same last year and the year before?
- Vysero 6y agoReally? You're guna bet against Elon Musk? You really think that's wise? XD
- rsynnott 6y agoOn Musk claiming level five any day now, like he has been doing for the last five years or so? Seems not unreasonable.
- Obi_Juan_Kenobi 6y agoWhen it comes to timeline, it's very wise.
- u10 6y agoBetting against Elon is a fools errand not because he's right, but because he's built a personality cult around himself.
- Vysero 6y agoYeah your right. I am sure it was his personality cult that managed to bring SpaceX to fruition.
- bb611 6y ago"markets can remain irrational a lot longer than you and I can remain solvent." TSLA proves this in spades, right now the stock is trading at more than double what Elon said was "overvalued" 10 weeks ago.
- krick 6y agoBut the bubble must collapse eventually, right? Enron was "the most innovative company" for 6 years in a row too.
- mcnamaratw 6y agoIt does. But there's not necessarily any safe way to profit on it. Shorting can force you out at the high. Puts expire.

- cma 6y agoDon't forget the LA to New York drive by 2017 with no interventions, on completely different less powerful hardware.
- bdcravens 6y agoEven at level 5 (full autonomy with no input needed), when it fails, they'll still blame the driver.
- sjwright 6y agoAt L5 you can't "blame the driver" because there is no driver.
- PunchTornado 6y agothey'll blame the other driver, the roads, the passengers etc.
- sjwright 6y agoI can only respond to what you said, not an endless list.

- ummonk 6y ago"I remain confident that we will have the basic functionality for level five autonomy complete this year. "There are no fundamental challenges remaining. "There are many small problems. "And then there's the challenge of solving all those small problems and putting the whole system together." Real-world testing was needed to uncover what would be a "long tail" of problems, he added." This is so ridiculous. Of course the basic functionality is easy. The whole point of having intelligent drivers is dealing with the edge cases.
