EFF Database of Police Agencies and Tech Tools They Use to Spy on Communities
- zackees 6y agoFunny how the EFF only cares about police spying and not any other spying by the corporate mega corporations, which can be used as evidence by the justice system to prosecute.
- glitcher 6y agoI disagree, but maybe there are specific stories or issues you are eluding to which I have missed? Even with supporting evidence, your statement seems far too broad to be accurate.
- vetrom 6y agoPolice spying is discoverable, to a point, in the U.S. by following the money disclosed in public records and targeted employment of FOIA requests. You might be able to glean sources like court records for evidence of things like corporate data sources used at trial, or perhaps other secondary sources. Finding and compiling that data is much less straightforward than that which is manadated, at least in theory, to be in the public record. The EFF has always been aimed at the government anyway, and its taken decades of pressure to reveal what it does. A different organisation is probably necessary to dedicate itself to corporate overreach.

It should also be noted that the police (along with governments) have a lot more power to affect your life in ways that even "corporate mega corporations" cannot. This can be read as it being more important to affect change and keep people accountable who can have more of an impact on your life.
