Some medical equipment works the same way in my experience. A nurse or I will routinely ask to redo a reading because the value "didn't seem right" And sure enough that happens about 1/3 of the time regardless of equipment or facility. So "just doesn't feel right" is something that absolutely happens in the real world. Not taking that into account is sloppy engineering
