Ask HN: Whats the best way to calculate votes on YouTube?

I am working on a interactive film company called PoP where the audience helps create the film as it is being made, they help choice the story, characters, cast, and even make important choices as the film is being made. We have to create a type of voting system by using youtube videos. Right now we are doing it as most likes or views, but we feel there must be a better way to tally votes. Does anyone have any good ideas for this? Thanks, Sammy
