Yes, that's the one outlier, but it's also the low end item in a relatively stagnant lineup. They haven't dropped the price on the iPad Pro, and most Macs have gone up in price in this period.
- GeekyBear 6y agoAccording to Ming Chi Kuo, who is one of the more accurate Apple prognosticators, the iPad will be moving to the low entry level price/high performance chip strategy of the iPhone SE later this year. >Kuo predicts that the releases will "follow iPhone SE's product strategy." Specifically, he says that the models will be affordable, and adopt Apple's "fast chips" similar to how the iPhone SE used the chip found in the flagship iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models from the fall of 2019. https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/05/14/108-inch-ipad-expected-in-2020-9-inch-ipad-mini-in-early-2021-says-ming-chi-kuo https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/05/14/108-inch-ipad-exp... It would certainly be interesting to see Apple apply this same strategy to an entry level laptop.
- scarface74 6y agoThe iPad Air is basically an iPad Pro without FaceID. Apple bought a lot of the features from the iPad Pro to the Air and low end iPad including pencil support and the keyboard attachment. They also finally left the 9.7 inch form factor to change the size to 10.2. The iPad is plenty powerful enough for most users. The MacBook Air has been $999 forever outside of a brief time when it was more expensive and a usable Mac Mini has usually cost $799. Not $699. The iMac have also maintained their prices.
