- eat_veggies 6y agohttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22910702 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22910702 I watched the entire talk and found it disappointing that the speaker just kind of buckets programming languages into different psychoanalytic vocab words based on their pop culture stereotypes. Hacker News ate it up because that talk demonstrates the exact neurotic compulsion to organize, classify, "understand," and kill, that the tech industry breeds.
- dnautics 6y agoI agree it was a little bit disappointing, and there's a ton of bullshit. But I did find it mildly entertaining and there is this great upshot that "there will always be a diversity of languages because people derive their enjoyment in different ways". By contrast, Uncle Bob not too long ago proposed that everyone converge on clojure as the 'final programming language'.
