I've worked on .NET Core services that ran in Ubuntu containers since the preview versions of .NET Core 2.0 (that was around spring/summer 2017) and since then .NET on Linux has been great. You get some config issues sometimes and weird use cases like if you use a closed and password protected 3rd party NuGet source, but it doesn't take that long to resolve those. I'm on a Mac nowadays and the same applies.
