I think it pays to be paranoid with hard drives. They all fail, it's just a matter of when.
ASIDE: I wish someone had a calculator for which drives were a good buy right now. They get to a certain point and the bank-for-the-buck ratio is for good up to only a certain size, then the prices jump.
