Walmart’s Amazon Prime competitor will launch in July
- dominotw 6y agoamazon's killer app is not prime. Its their customer service, they always make it right for the customer. Can the same be said for walmart? I don't think so.
- blacksmith_tb 6y agoIsn't the real question if AWS is the real money-maker, how much does it matter if Walmart poaches some Prime members away?
- BenjiWiebe 6y agoI've had some excellent service from Walmart and an occasional less-then-excellent Amazon service experience.
- Red_Leaves_Flyy 6y agoI've Never had a bad experience at the Wal-Mart cs desk, whereas every time I contact Amazon it's half an hour of pulling teeth to resolve a problem that Amazon could fix preemptively if their priorities were in the right places.
- panopticon 6y ago> Its their customer service, they always make it right for the customer. Anecdotally, their willingness to go above and beyond seems to have decreased quite a bit over the last 5 years. I used to get an additional month of Prime for delivery delays, but I haven't gotten one of those in years. I just end up with an apology these days.

That was true 10 years ago, but it hasn't been true for at least 6 years now. Amazon lost that advantage years ago around the same time they started posting quarterly profits. When their customer service was unrivaled, I didn't care if I missed a deal by not shopping around; I was more worried with getting a headache from other companies. Fast forward to today, I now shop around and every purchase at Amazon requires the now normal, "Is this real or fake? Eh, I'll just buy it from Target or another retailer that doesn't have a 3rd party marketplace"
- zxcvbn4038 6y agoEver since the pandemic started I’ve been unable to order a single thing from Walmart - it’s always out of stock, pick-up only, or doesn’t ship to my area code (NYC). If they want to compete with Amazon maybe they should start there. Every time I go down to the mail room there is a pallet of Amazon boxes - not a single Walmart or Target box. Pre-pandemic you’d see a mix of all three.
- woodandsteel 6y agoFor many years I shopped once a month at the local Walmart, mostly groceries. Now we have the coronavirus. There is no home delivery from the store. I would like to do pickup from there, but almost nothing I would buy is available for that. I would have to shop in person, and I am not going to do that. So I buy all that food elsewhere, even though it costs more. They are losing a lot of money on me, and don't seem to care.
