Communication between teams is handled by team leads talking to each other - where I’m at we have standups each day within teams, and then every other day those are immediately followed by team leads having another standup where the focus is on what teams are doing, rather than what individuals are doing. It’s not perfect, but it’s a lot more efficient than the previous state of every individual developer needing awareness of what every other individual developer is working on at any given moment.
