I work as an external examiner for CS students, and one year I was assigned first semester exams. To brush up my knowledge on freshmen CS stuff I completed the CS50x course from Harvard on EDX.org and I can easily say that it was taught so much better than my own freshman year in a Danish university. I wonder how much that plays into universities wanting to keep physical attendance. Once you go digital, you don’t really need a lot of lecturers. You still need someone to answer questions and mentor of course, but you could frankly have a handful of professors teaching the entire world.
