I really miss Winamp!
- JoshGlazebrook 6y agoMan I had so many custom skins for Winamp. It really was a different time back then.
- pwdisswordfish2 6y agoThat last sentence took an unexpected turn.
- themodelplumber 6y agoI'm using a Macross Plus Winamp skin for QMMP as I write this, so it was funny to read your comment...I got so sick of iTunes that a few years ago I went back to the old way. I wrote some scripts to select & generate playlists and bound the scripts to keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+Super+Media Keys. QMMP has been really solid.
- captbaritone 6y agoI (author of Webamp) worked with the internet archive to archive ~50k Winamp skins. The collection even features Webamp integration is you can try them out in the browser. https://archive.org/details/winampskins https://archive.org/details/winampskins
- mostlysimilar 6y agoBeautiful! Brings me back to my early teens. We've really lost something in modern software.
- AtHeartEngineer 6y agoI really appreciate your work, this is awesome.
- mikeyjk 6y agoDoes it work with milkdrop? That visualiser is exceptional. Unfortunately project M isn't as good.
- marcusjt 6y agoI always preferred Geiss, but either way, I wish such visualisation capabilities were built in to Spotify... Or is there a suitable in_xxx plugin for Winamp that will let me use its visualisations with Spotify?
- andycowley 6y agoAlso follow your @winampskins twitter bot for daily nostalgia :)
- pkphilip 6y agoWow!! Dear sir, you are quite the superhero! Winamp is one of my favourite applications!
- giantrobot 6y agoYou are the Hero we need but not the one we deserve.
- dilandau 6y agoAudacious. It's compatible with the skins, even.
- pcurve 6y agoCan't you still use it? I still use it.
- phasetransition 6y agoYou can say thanks for the memories buy purchasing a copy of Reaper, and get a serviceable DAW in the process..
- captbaritone 6y agoFor those who don’t get the connection, Reaper is made by Justin Frankel who was the original developer of Winamp.
- austincheney 6y agoI still use Winamp.
- miked85 6y agoSame, I was also a fan of Sonique [1] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonique_(media_player) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonique_(media_player)
- ubercow13 6y agoOne promising continuation is WACUP https://getwacup.com/ https://getwacup.com/
