Does anyone know what's the best way to try out an original IRIX system? Aside from buying an Indigo and disks.

I think qemu had good MIPS emulation, enough, at least, to pretend to be a DEC workstation. Not sure anyone tried an SGI one.

There's a guide for setting up IRIX emulation on MAME at https://sgi.neocities.org/ https://sgi.neocities.org/ Unfortunately it's pretty slow.
