Stop speaking for me because you don’t know what you’re talking about.
These are exactly the kind of patronizing replies I expected. Y’all are gonna explain to me why I shouldn’t be offended as if I didn’t know what I’m saying
Y’all think you’re so much smarter than everyone. The public want these changes just like they want JavaScript (another HN trope). This is why twitter did what they did, not because they’re virtue signaling
- dragonwriter 6y ago> Stop speaking for me because you don’t know what you’re talking about. When I specifically say that you are wrong on the facts, I am arguing against you, not speaking for you. There is a quite large difference between those two things. Now, admittedly, I was arguing that you are wrong in a way which might be easily corrected without what most people would see as a major change to the thrust of your argument, which could perhaps be taken as a friendly correction rather than opposition, but its not speaking for you, and I am quite happy to accept that your intended message was tightly bound to the specific ways in which your description was erroneous, such that any disagreement on those points is oppositional. Agreement in the broad point was no more a specific goal of mine than agreement in the details. > Y’all are gonna explain to me why I shouldn’t be offended as if I didn’t know what I’m saying I don't say anything about why you should or should not be offended. What I said is that your interpretation, or at least your reduction of it to a description in words, of the facts (not your emotional reaction) was both almost certainly factually incorrect and itself needlessly offensively phrased.
