There's been a movement at my employer to replace some of these terms for years, though it seems to be getting more widespread attention lately. Some of the terms, especially 'whitelist' and 'blacklist', are also very confusing to many non-native english speakers. 'Allowlist' and 'denylist' are just a lot clearer in those cases.
