If there were ever a time to spend, this is it. If people didn’t have to worry about being made whole for the duration of the lockdown, we could have locked down sooner, and much harder, and stood a chance at cutting this thing off at the knees. Instead, we’ve dithered, and the long term economic damage is looking far greater.
