Do you mean truly neoliberal or truly liberal? Not that it matters much. Blaming the state for something a bunch of bankers lobbied for is a bit rich. You want to fix things in america? Take money out of politics. Get rid of the myopic two party system. Political decisions arent on a sinle spectrum and ignoring this leads to an unavoidable escalating osciliation between too extremes when the majority wants anything but that outcome.
