- p1mrx 6y agoYou're referring to the DC-DC converter, which powers/recharges the 12 volt system. You need to add a 12V->120V inverter to use the Volt as a generator. This is possible on most hybrid/electric vehicles, e.g. https://pmarks.net/konapower https://pmarks.net/konapower
