What browser & OS are you using? When you say "never show", a cookie should be placed in your browser called "swoopshow" (like this one http://drod.io/272U3B1v200k2z1a1v0u http://drod.io/272U3B1v200k2z1a1v0u ). Could you check to see if you have the cookie? I'm wondering if the cookie's not being placed correctly, or if it's being placed but not read correctly. FYI it does work for me on Firefox & Mac OS 10.6.
- makeramen 16y agoworks after refresh, but not before. safari mac 10.6.
- icefox 16y agoDoesn't work with Safari 5.0.4 on OSX.
- emmett 16y agoBroken on chrome, osx.
- fierarul 16y agoI don't allow cookies from most sites so your solution won't work for me. What I don't understand is why it doesn't seem to work for a given open page. I can understand needing to read that cookie if I will load the page again in the future, but the bar showed up seconds after I closed it.

- headShrinker 16y agochrome 10 mac, The browser has a new user and displays dickbar. When you set (through get var? I didn't look,) the cookie the dickbar will not load. Click back on the browser to get back to hacker news, and chrome reloads a state where dickbar cookie is not set, thus displaying the dickbar yet again. Clicking back once more will go back to HN.
